Reptilian monkeys

Yesterday was the most active day so far with a lot of walking around. We snakes, lizards, trolls and so many people. By the time we got back my feet were hurting so badly.

After we had eaten we jumped on the tram and headed straight down town. Our first stop was “Oslo reptile park”. We had to walk a bit from the station to get to the location, but we found it eventually. In there they had so many different creatures. They had lizards, frogs, turtles, chameleons, geckos, snakes and even a caiman. There were also some non reptiles such as monkeys, cockroaches and spiders. It was all quite interesting even though the place wasn’t that big of a place. It took us around 30 min to go through the place.

When that was done we headed down to the tourist shop. Here we were looking for magnets that Nathan’s neighbours had requested. They wanted ones that had a city on them together with the name. Since they are collecting them and they did not have anyone from Norway. We did only find one of Oslo and the rest was just Norway in general.

The next place we headed to was back to the sushi place. This time I had the grilled aubergine and fried rice with salmon together with some sushi plates from the belt. Nathan did not have sushi and ordered beef teriyaki, fried chicken and squid and 2 Oreo cakes. We tried to not eat too much since it was later than planned and we still had dinner plans at home.

When we were done eating we headed towards the candy store. We have one called “Yummy heaven” and it’s the best and biggest place to get candy in Oslo. We got two bags each with our own pick and mix selection and it wasn’t that expensive, which was a bit surprising. For our last stop we got some bubble tea. I had one a Lychee black tea with raspberry bubbles and Nathan had green tea with both bubbles and jelly. Then it was finally time to head home.

Upon arriving back we just both plonked down on the bed and proceeded to relax before dinner. On todays menu was lamb served with roasted potatoes, carrots, mushroom and peas with some gravy. It all tasted really nice, but my stomach was still a bit full from the sushi. Nothing more happened that evening since it was already quite late by the time we had finished dinner.

Fast forward till today. The only thing on the agenda was a small walk around a close by lake. Nathan and I went all the way around while my dad only walked about half of it. Since we finished way earlier we sat down playing smash or pass on the people passing by. It was also raining on and off all the time. The rest of the day was just spent to chill, enjoy the sunny weather and continue to rest our feet.

YO! Technology

On today’s adventure Nathan and I visited the technology and science museum, which is a place I used to go to a lot when I was younger. It was really fun and I felt like a little child again.

We started today really nice and slow. Didn’t have lunch until 2 pm and then we headed out because it was suppose to rain later that day and we didn’t want to get caught in that. We headed to the tram station and after a few min, the tram arrived and we headed over to our destination.

Today we visited the Technology and Science museum. The entire experience was really nostalgic and it was fun to see what they had done to the place. They still had some of the old exhibitions, but then also a lot of new ones that I have never seen. We tried to visit everything. My favourite was the so called playing room where they had a lot of interactive games such as a binary game where you used binary to type different words such as “cat” or your own name. Nathan did one for himself and then one for me. There was also a morse game where you had to get as many words as possible correct by using morse code. Nathan got 52 out of 56 with an accuracy of 0.69.

We stayed right up until the museum closed. Then we headed down to the city to get some sushi, because there is a place there that serves it on a conveyer belt which Nathan enjoys. We did not eat too much since we were still having dinner at home. So afterwards we just headed back home again.

I hosted movie night in my discord server where we watched “Free Guy”. It was a really funny movie which didn’t come as a huge surprise since it’s staring Ryan Reynolds. The movie lasted for around 2 hours. Then it was time for dinner and tv time with my family before heading for bed.

Tomorrow we are doing more of a city day. We will be getting some bubble tea, visit the best candy store and our only so called comic and board games store, get a magnet for Nathan’s neighbours that they have requested and get some more sushi. We are now half way through our Norway trip.

Paintings of war

Today we visited an art museum that was about WW2. The place wasn’t big and had quite some nice paintings. We did have some problem getting to it.

We woke up quite late compared to the other days. Had a late lunch at 2 pm and then we left around 4 pm. The drive wasn’t that long. We did have some trouble getting there because there wasn’t a clare sign on where to go, but after a couple min we manged to find the right place to park the car. The place was called “Roseslotte”

The museum started with bunch of portrait paintings from people who had a big impact during the war, but were never recognised for it. They all had a sentence explaining what their occupation followed with what their role were during the war. Further I’m it was more general paintings from the war. It was a lot of information and overall a really good exebition.

After we were done at “Roseslottet” we headed over to the restaurant where we were eating. Ut was on another hilltop and the it’s called “Ekerberg Restaurant”. It’s quite popular for both being good, but also quite expensive.

We got a really nice table with a great view. I had lamb of the day, Nathan had the fish of the day, my mother had shrimp salad on toast and my dad had mussels with bread. Almost everyone was satisfied with their food. Nathan was a bit disappointed with his portion. He got a really small fish filet for the price. The taste was also kind of bland. Thankfully, there was cake at home.

Spent the evening just chilling, eating cake and watching some more TV. Tomorrow Nathan and I are heading to the technology and science museum.

What’s a smooth vacay without a bit of chaos

Today was our first day in Norway as part of our 2 week vacation. We started off quite chill to then proceed to have quite an awkward dinner service.

Yesterday nothing much happened. We did actually managed to reach everything according to plan. Zero delays which was really nice for a change. We arrive at my family around 12:30 am and then proceeded to just go strait to bed.

Today we slept in till noon due to us both being quite exhausted from the trip. We had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, potato’s and toast. We just talked and got to know each other a bit better while eating. The rest was just spent on relaxing.

At around 6 pm we headed out and took the car down to the city where we took a small walk over the Opera house. There I showed Nathan the view from the top while pointing out different places in the city, and then we headed out to “Sørenga” which is a place that started out as a typical apartment place, but has then gotten a lot of restaurants and places to swim for both locals and tourist.

We found a place to eat dinner and this is where all the shit went down. We first had a small problems with ordering drinks where the waiter would take one order and then just walk off before we got to share ours. Then when we were ready to order the food a new waiter came to serve us. My mother ordered two starters instead of a main course, my father and Nathan both went with Tagliatelle with mussels and I had Fettuccini with scampi.

So our first problem accrued when the waiter brought out both my my mothers dishes because she had forgotten to inform them that they were suppose to be a replacement for main course, then it was also the fact that she got it at the same time because she also forgot to tell them that she wanted them after each other. The second problem was the fact that it took us SO long until the rest of us got our food. At some point we asked when it will arrive and the waiter said 8 min, but waited for at least 30 min. The food itself was quite good at least. Not really worth the waiting time, but it could have been worse.

After our small awkward dinner Nathan and I decided to take a small walk around the tip of the half island just to see what was out there. By the time we arrive back at the restaurant my parents had already started moving towards the car. We did catch up eventually after I had spent some time sitting a fake dolphin on the playground.

Now we are just chilling and relaxing our feet. For tomorrow we are heading up early to drive to a sculpture park a bit further away. The day itself was alright. I don’t blame the waiters at all for what happened during dinner. My mother did forget to inform them, plus they are not the ones responsible for how long the kitchen takes to prepare the food.

A small ooting with the fam

Today, we had made some plans to head out to a city called “Drammen We had a lovely time with good food and a nice short Sunday walk.

We started today a bit late again, which i don’t have anything against. I made some egg fried rice with the leftovers from yesterday, and then after that my mum and I decided to do the same walk we did the day before. We didn’t go all the way up today since we had other plans later on.

At around 5 pm we all got into the care and were on our way to our ooting. Our plans were to eat dinner at a restaurant and then go for a short walk next to the river.

The restaurant we went to was called “Skutebrygga” and it was really nice interior. We decided to order 1 starter and 1 main course. I had something called “Vitello Tonnato” which was a classic Italian dish. It was a thin slice of calf meat, tuna mayonaise, spring onion, toast and capers. As my main course I had “Spareribs Bullfighter” which were spare ribs marinated with their own saus and served with fries, corn stew and their own burbon sauce. Everything tasted really nice.

After our dinner we decided to take a short walk to digest our food better and to just enjoy the lovely, sunny evening. It didn’t take long and we just headed home right afterwards.

After we got back home we just relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the evening before heading to bed.

Trip didn’t go as expected, but good non the less

So it’s been 3 days since I left to travel to Norway and even though I’m having a lovely time at the moment it was quite an eventful trip so far.

It all started as soon as I left my apartment and headed towards my bus. Apparently, that day, all my transports decided to be delayed. The bus was 20 min, the train was 30 min, and the plane was 50 min delayed, which meant that I didn’t arrive at Malmö where I was meeting my friends until around 11 pm. The night bus to Oslo ended up being 20 min delayed as well.

It was really nice meeting my friends. They were funny and very nice company all together. They acted quite childish towards each other, but that was just super entertaining. We did spend the first night just sitting and trying to sleep as much as we could on the bus. We arrived in Oslo at 7 am on the 9th.

Our first plan was to head over to my friend’s aunt, who lived around 1h away in total from the central station. We walked to the tram and took that to the docks. Then we took the boat and ended up taking a bus before we were at our destination. She lived in a really nice house and had prepared some breakfast for us. We were all quite tired and hungry, so after we had eaten, we took a nap. We slept for around 3 hours, and when we woke up, we had some lunch.

Then we went to the beach where my friend decided to go for a small dip in the ocean. We stayed there for around 1h before we headed home and ate some spaghetti with meat sauce. We had ice cream for dessert. Then they drove me home, and we hung out at my place.

So the plan was originally going to be that the 3 of us would do something in Norway for a week, but then something came up for my friends so it got changed so that they would only stay over the weekend before heading back and I would stay in Oslo and spend time with my family until Tuesday, but it didn’t really go as planned. My friends hadn’t found a place to stay for the weekend due to life get in the way and that they were still quite tired from a trip they had done a week ago, and after spending the entire day with the aunt they weren’t really feeling too good so it kind of ended with them driving home to Sweden that night. They also were having an unexpected guest coming to visit for this weekend. So that was that. Although I’m a bit sad about the entire situation, I understand it, and we decided to just do it another time at a later date. This way, I at least get to spend more time with my family, which is also very important for me since my dad just got home from almost 6 months in the hospital.

Fast forward to yesterday. I just woke up at around 1 pm. and had some noodle soup with baguettes for lunch together with my dad while we just talked and hung out. Then, we had a cronut ( a mix between a doughnut and a croissant) for dessert. Then when my mum got home from a small shopping round.

We walked all the way from our home to the nearest small mountain. That was really exhausting since I’m quite out of shape xD My left hip was hurting together with my right ankle, my back and just my feet in general, but it was a nice walk and I had really miss the nature in general. After we got home, we just hung out on the terrasse before dinner was served.

For dinner, we had sashimi with rice, which was great. Then we watched some tv before heading to bed. So even though things didn’t go as planned, I still had a lovely time with my friends, and I had a great day with my family so far.

Great concert with a frustrating end.

Yesterday my boyfriend and I took the train to Tilburg in the Netherlands. This time we saw one of my favourite bands perform. It’s was really fun.

Nathan had taken the day off and my teacher was sick so we could sleep in until noon. Our train didn’t leave until 5 pm which means we had a lot of time to prepare. We started by taking the train from where we lived Roosendaal and then over to Tilburg which was the city where the concert was being held. It only took 1h30 min which is close to the same amount it took us to get the one in Brussels.

When we got to Tilburg we had 1h until the first band would play. We decided to get something to eat and drink before heading toward the venue. I had a salmon with eggs sandwich and a some small fries while Nathan had a croissant. The venue was only 10 min away so we didn’t have to rush.

Cute Christmas decorations outside the train station.

When we got to the place and got in we headed towards the concert hall. This place was noticeably smaller than the other one and there was barely any place to sit beside some steps in the back. So we decided to go there. Then began the waiting.

The warm-up band was someone called “Charming Liars”. They are a band from L.A and UK. I like their songs and thinking about looking more into them. Nathan wasn’t too impressed which is fair since its not really his type of band either.

Charming Liars

Then came the main attraction! AGAINST THE CURRENT. It was amazing to hear them live. They performed some songs I had heard before and some that they released before I started listening to them. They even had some fun chats in between songs. My favourite were definitely “wildfire” and “that won’t save us”. We had to leave before the concert was over because we had to catch the last train home and the entire concert was also behind schedule. We really wanted to hear “weapons” and “legends never die” but those were unfortunately their last songs. If only we could have predicted what would happen next.

We headed towards the train station and made it on the the train as it arrived and got ourself to Roosendaal. Then when we were to check up on the information for our train that would take us back to Belgium it said that had ben cancelled. This is where we started to panic a bit cause we were still in the Netherlands and it as almost midnight which means most public transports had already stopped. I started to reach out to a friend cause I know that she has friends that live in the Netherlands to see if they could help us out.

The first option was to stay at a friends place until morning and then take the train and our second option was that a friend was willing to drive all the way from Belgium to our location and then take us home. We first tried to get a hold of the guy who lived close, but he ended up not being and option so then I messages the guy to ask if he was still willing to get us and he were so yeah. Then we just had to wait 1h for him to drive all the way from his location in Belgium to us. We tried to see if there were any bars were we could sit and wait, but EVERYTHING was closed which we found quite surprising seeing that it wasn’t that late. So we just ended up waiting at the station, by the time he arrived my legs were soo cold. We had really pleasant time in the car and only 40 min later we were finally home.

Nathan hugged the couch as soon as we got home and we immediately made some food, put on our comfy cloths and relaxed in front of the tv watching “the big bang theory”

Despite this not being the optimal concert experience we at least managed to get home only 1h later than planned which is a pretty positive outcome given our situation. All honor goes towards our friend for coming to get us and drive us home. Without him we would probably have had to find a place to stay for the night even if that meant sleeping at the train station.

Gameforce Brussels 2022

This weekend I went to my first ever gaming convention called Gameforce. It was held in Brussels and I got to see and play a bunch of cool things.

We decided to be there around 3 pm, because I figured that 3h seemed to be enough time for us to see everything the event would have to offer. This time we decided to take the subway since it was the easiest and most direct way of transportation. There was one child who cried for almost 6 stops straight, but thankfully they stepped off before us and we could travel the last distance in peace. When we arrive at the area we started going the wrong way because this time the convention was in another building, but we figured it out eventually xD

Walking through the main entrance we instantly could see a bunch of different stalls and almost every single one of them had a gaming area. There were a lot of different companies too such as Intel, Steelseries, Alternate, JBL, Square Enix, Bethesda etc…

The first thing we wanted to do was just walk around to see what was there and then we would head towards some of the stalls to take a better look. There were a lot of people there and some of them were even in cosplay which wasn’t too surprising since this was a convention after all. Most of the cosplays were either league or Genshin related.

We stayed until it was just about to close. At this convention there weren’t a lot of places that sold things so we didn’t get a lot. In total we got a Japanese goodie back and Nathan bought me my birthday present. As for the games I got to play some “Mario sunshine” and try out the demo for the new “A plague tale requiem” Can’t wait until that game releases in a couple of weeks.

On our way home we were unfortunate because the bus we usually take from the city to where we live decided to change the route which meant that we had to get of and walk home which was one thing I hoped to avoid after walking all day and the convention.

When we got home we just collapsed on the sofa. Spent the rest of the evening playing games with friends.

Meeting old friends for the first time

Yesterday I arrived home after my two weeks of vacation. It was nice to be back, but I do wish that I could have some more time to spend with friends.

On my last day in Norway which was on the 29th my mum and I went shopping for some outfits for me. I also went to the hairdresser so that they could just cut the worst ends for me. I got some new pants and tops which both were stylish and practical. Later in the afternoon we met up with a family friend, because she had invited us both for “ladies lunch”. Then afterwards we went to the cinema and saw the new Elvis movie. It was a really insightful movie. All in all it was nice chill way to end my time in Norway. My dad was so kind and drove me to the airport the next day. I almost cried when I said goodbye at the airport.

My next little stop was Denmark since I had a connecting flight to get me to Frankfurt. I met up with a who I met through streaming. It was our first meetup so I was a bit nervous, but it was really nice. We had lunch together at the airport while I was waiting for my next departure and we just spent that time hanging out and getting to know each other. At around 12:45 we said our goodbyes as I headed towards the security and to my next plane. Little did I know that the plane ended up being 1h delayed because of some technical issue, but we sorted everything out and then it was off to Frankfurt.

Upon arrival I just decided to head towards the exit as fast as I could. I took my bags and went outside. Then my friend called me and asked where I was. It took us almost 10 min of walking back and forth with both of us being confused until I realized that was on the wrong floor and had to take the stairs down. Apparently I had exited on the floor for departures and I had to go down to get to arrivals. We had a great laugh when we finally managed to meet up. Then we head back to her place which would be home for the rest of the week.

The rest of the week was really nice and chill compared to Norway. The first couple of days we just decided to chill and relax. My friend was also quite tired the first night since I had kept her awake with my snoring so she ended up sleeping on the couch xD. We just walked the dogs (she and her mum have 4 together), visited her pony and met with her friends who also have 4 dogs. In the evening we played games with our friends. I also tried out VR for the first time and was having a blast playing “Beat Saber”.

On Thursday however we had plans on going to a carnival in the evening that was being held in one of the neighbour city. During the day we walked the dogs and visited a thrift shop cause my friends mum. They had some really nice cloths for a cheap penny. I got three tops and a bag for around € 10. My friend also got a lovely bag and nice denim jacket with leather arms.

At around 6 pm me, my friend and her roommate all went to the carnival together. It was HUGE with a bunch of different stalls and attractions. They sold everything from food, furniture, services etc. We walked around for hours. My friend and I went into “the fun house” as it’s called. Then we all took the Ferris wheel together and the view from the top was amazing with all the lights one. I also did the attraction where you try to knock down a tower of cans. They had a deal where if you nocked everything down with only three shots you could choose any prize. I managed to show of some impressive moves such as only hitting the top can and only hitting the middle can without knocking the dower down. I didn’t managed to know the entire tower, but I won a yellow duck xD We stayed until it was almost 10 pm.

The next day we had plans to head into the other city to go shopping. We went to the City Galerie aka a shopping center. Here I bought myself 4 comfy bralettes, a wallet and something for my pc. It was nice to go shopping with my friend. It’s been a while since I went girl shopping. She helped me find the perfect fit. I also got another pair of nice, comfy pants. After that we met up with the guys and had sushi. It was delicious. My friend and I ordered 3 plates to share and they put everything on one big board in the middle and then we could share it however we liked. One of the guys tried wasabi for the first time and it was a bit funny to watch because he ended up putting on too much. Both me and my friend were so full after that meal. Later we met up with the guys again for our evening walk with the dogs.

SUSHI!!

The dogs were super sweet. There was my friend’s dogs: Puffy, Lana, Ani and Ricco. Then there were the guy’s dogs: Stella, Bonnie, Coco and Nami. They were super fun to hang out with and I was usually the one carrying the treats which made the dogs go crazy. Ani is the oldest one and she usually spent the night with us. Puffy and Lana were the most energetic and Ricco is a mommy’s boy and barely let me pet him. I really love being around dogs. There energy just rubs off in such a amazing way.

I headed home yesterday. Decided to just take the train all the way back to Antwerp, because it was more chill that way. After our daily morning walk my friend drove me to the train station. We had some McDonalds while waiting for the train. It took me around 6h all together. Nathan met up with me in the city and we decided to head to Wagamama together for dinner. I told him everything and we had an amazing time catching up. On our way home it started to rain and we ended up getting pretty wet. I was met with a lovely surprise when I got home, our new bed had arrived. I tested it out and it was really nice. The rest of the evening I just spent updating stuff on my pc and playing some games with the guys. Tomorrow schools starts again so gotta enjoy the free time while I still can xD

I hope you guys have had an amazing summer as well whether or not you have been traveling or just stayed home and for anyone who is starting or has started their studies I wish them good luck ^^

Visiting Blaafarveværket

The trip yesterday went to a place called Blaafarveværket. It’s the furthest we have ever gotten this time. This was my favourite trip by far.

We headed out in the car at around noon. The weather was just as beautiful as on the other days. I shared my playlist while we were driving in the car. The entire car ride took almost 2h.

I really loved the art thats was displayed at “Blaafarveværket” because it were paintings that has been used a lot for norwegian folktales, so I recognised some of the art work. The were art from a guy called “Kittelsen” who is known for is paintings being folktale related.

After walking through the gallery we decided to go and get some lunch since the clock was already around 3 pm and non of us had eaten any breakfast. We sat down at the cafe there and had some waffles. They were really delicious and perfect for as a small lunch.

When everyone had eaten we decided to just sit and relax. Looking out over the small river. We walked around for a bit and I went up to see the giant waterfall.

After a very long day it was time to head home. On our way home I decided to listen to my music by myself. At home we had prawns with spaghetti and sauce for dinner.
